Agreed that history has not been favorable as far as unity in ( or of ) India is concerned. But the

question on ought to ask is "What went wrong after independence?".The new India failed to live up to

the democratic principles enshrined in its Constitution and respect the rights of the nationalities it

had taken within its borders. In the over-zealous efforts to integrate these people into the "national

mainstream", based on the dominant brahminical Aryan culture, much destruction has been done to the

indigenous populations. For the north-eastern states at least , it was an alien concept and went against

their prevailing culture.
A caste -ridden society is against their ethics as such. And labelling them( ok ,most of them) as

"scheduled tribes" and clubbing them with the adivasisis was a stigma they had to bear for the rest of

their lives. The leaders were selfish and failed to take an overview of the situations of the entire

"nation". The hindi - centric powerhouse in delhi failed to look after the non -hindi speaking states,

further alienating the southies from the northies .
One question one ought to ask himself now is "what can i do?". Lets stop playing verbal volleys and

dwell on the real issues. But for this uve got to have the patience and the commitment to assimilate the

ground realities without any bias. We ve got to get past hypocrisy and selfishness .I know its a

difficult proposition but it ought to be done .Its late - letsnot make itany later...

rightly pointed out. More such works needed to make ourself proud of our own civilisation. But to make one small suggestion.. 'we are not indigenous.. we also do have got our own civilisation. And if we are to classify under this term, every civilisation has got its own indigenousity in other sense.. India is also indigenous in a way to Manipur. And if the term indigenous is used to represent in a relative political manner, it would mean that we are indigenous people of the Indian civilisation or the political picture, which we are not!!!

Anyway, please do keep it up.
